Following the success of OAI in preclinical research, the technology has already transitioned into clinical research use. Key areas of interest include oncology, inflammation and fibrosis. Results obtained so far support a bright future for OAI in clinical diagnosis.
In the past 5-10 years, OAI has become an established imaging modality for in vivo preclinical research. Based on its unique ability to differentiate endogenous chromophores and exogenous probes, a wide variety of applications has been successfully explored.
