Medical device company iThera Medical announces successful closure of €13 Million investment round, led by TRUMPF Venture with participation by the EIC Fund as co-investor in addition to existing investors Mey Capital Matrix, Wachstumsfonds Bayern, BayBG, Fluxunit, Falk Strascheg Holding, and Occident. The funding will drive the company’s continued innovation and commercialization of its novel medical imaging technology, with a specific goal to translate the technology into a routine clinical environment and offer clinicians worldwide a powerful new diagnostic tool.

Under the EIC Accelerator program, Europe’s largest and most selective public funding program for breakthrough innovation projects, the EU will provide €2.5 million grant funding and up to €15 million equity. Through this project, iThera Medical will translate its proprietary optoacoustic imaging technology from a research environment to application in routine clinical imaging, thus providing clinicians worldwide with a powerful new diagnostic tool.

The inVision TRIO is the first imaging system in the world that incorporates transmission ultrasound computed tomography (TUCT) and expands the field of biomedical applications addressable using iThera Medical’s optoacoustic imaging systems.
